Hiên Lâm Duc
Photographe franco-laotien, membre de l’agence VU de 1995 à 2002 et depuis 2017.
Né en 1966 sur les rives du Mékong à Paksé au Laos, Lâm Duc Hiên suit sa famille en exil après la victoire du Pathet-Lao : traversée de nuit du Mékong pour la Thaïlande, deux dures années de camp de réfugiés, deux évasions, avant d’arriver en France en 1977 où il se découvre une vraie soif d’apprendre et obtient son diplôme des Beaux-Arts en Expression Plastique.
Lâm Duc Hiên développe alors un travail photographique engagé à travers le monde aussi bien dans ses projets personnels qu’en commande pour la presse ou pour les ONG. En Roumanie, en Russie, en Bosnie, en Tchétchénie, au Rwanda, au Sud Soudan, et surtout en Irak dont il couvre le territoire depuis 25 ans, il témoigne des conséquences des conflits majeurs de la fin du XX et du début du XXIème sur les populations civiles. Investi pour la protection des ressources naturelles, il documente également l’influence des évolutions du monde contemporain sur la vie le long des fleuves Mékong et Niger.

He was born in 1966 on the shores of Mekong, in Paksé (Laos). He had followed his exiled family after the Pathet-Lao victory and had experienced the crossing of Mekong at night to join Thailand, two years of refugee’s camp and two escapes before he arrived in France in 1977. Then, he discovered his will to learn and was graduated of Beaux-Arts in Plastic Expression.
Hiên Lâm Duc has developed an involved work across the world, as for personal projects than for the press and NGO’s commands. He shows consequences of 20th and 21th century’s major conflicts on civilians in Romania, Russia, Bosnia, Chechnya, Rwanda, South Sudan, and above all in Iraq, where he covered the territory for 25 years. He is deeply involved for the protection of natural resources, and documents also the influence and the evolution of a contemporary world along the shores of Mekong and Niger.
