Manuel Vimenet

Manuel Vimenet commence son travail photographique à la fin des années 1970, tout d’abord comme indépendant pour le quotidien Libération puis en tant que membre de l’agence Collectif Presse à Paris. Après une série au long cours dans les prisons françaises et un premier reportage en Chine, il rejoint l’Agence VU’.

En 1989, il se trouve place Tian An Men au moment des événements sanglants de juin, puis à Berlin lors de la chute du mur, et à Bucarest lors de la fin du régime de Ceazcescu.

Ces reportages qui le placent au coeur de l’actualité le conduiront à travailler pour la presse nationale et internationale (Géo, Paris-Match, Libération, Time, l’Express…).

Manuel Vimenet begins to photograph at the end of 1970’s. First, he’s freelance for the daily paper Libération, then he joins the Collectif Presse agency in Paris. After a long-time series on French prisons and a first report in China, he becomes a member of VU’ Agency.

In 1989, he photographs the Tian An Men place during the bloody events of June, then he goes back to Europe and documents as well the fall of the Berlin Wall and the government of Ceazcescu’s end in Bucarest.

These reports at the heart of news led him to work for national and international press (Géo, Paris-Match, Libération, Time, l’Express…).
